What Would You Do If You Had $10,000,000?

It’s a great question, isn’t it? Most of us occasionally dream about making or, better yet, winning a few million dollars. But real life shows us that people who won or suddenly inherited huge amounts of money had no idea what to do with it, and most of them ended up losing it all in just 3-4 years!
I am sure that you would be smarter than that…
How would you spend $10,000,000? What are the first 3 things that you would do with it? What goals would you pursue if money was no longer an obstacle?
I thought about it for some time, and here are 7 things I would do with my money:
1. Donate $1,000,000 to small charities and make sure that my money really go to those, who need it
2. Build my own house
3. Give $200,000 to my parents and my uncle, so that they won’t have to worry about paying bills any more
4. Invest $7,000,000 in different ways: buy some properties, stocks, bonds, ecc
5. Organize a 3-week vacation for my family and closest friends
6. Take 3 months off and go in ashram in India
7. Attend a lot more workshops, lectures, seminars
I’d love to hear what would you do with your money. Write down any spontaneous ideas that come to your mind in the comment section below, be it travel around the world 10 times or develop a new motivational program that will inspire people to pursue their dreams and help them to stay positive.
Listen very carefully to those answers that really make you come alive! Because they might be the ones you have to start working towards right now…

It is a great Question to be answered. Though I have never dreamed of, but I would like to say!!!!!!!!!! If I had that money or in-case, if one day I got it from somewhere for some reason I would first build my family's dream house and then I would make some private schools around the rural area of Afghanistan and even If I could manage the teachers for them. I just wish my dream come true one-day.

50% amount for my financial growth for future and remaning 50%. will be distributed as follows:- 1) I would plan some amount to save this planet , like funding to some universities who are doing research for alternatives sources of energy. 2) Some amount for NGO's or will start a non profit organasation which is only dedicated to grow , nurture plants lots and lots of trees on this earth.3) Some amount will be donated to rural india for water harvesting project bcoz i think and i beilive that the future issue of this planet will be pure drinking water 4) Developing interest and awareness among youth and diverting thierfuture carrier towards agriculture . 5) Starting a college where common sense will be developed bcoz nowadays common sense have become uncommon :) 6) Starting or opening orphanage or some place where those senior citizens or elderly people can live , eat , enjoy and die peacefully.

What a interesting question indeed what i would do with that kind of money!!! there is a lot one can think of doing with that amount of money but only the weak ones mentally will believe that money is enough …Money will never be enough!! OK … the first thing i will do is thank God… because he is the one that makes all things possible!!!!!
The second thing is to take 80% of the money and invest it in all different avenues may it be property, stocks ,mutual funds, businesses etc because that money have to generate more money. and i could go on and on to say what i will do with the rest of the money , enjoy the many luxuries in life, and strive to become very very powerful !!!

Good evening. Great answers.. And it makes me pause and think, with a smile, of course, to truly search the desires of my heart…and know they'd be in agreement with what God would have me to do. We all know money can be used for evil, so I am certain you'd have to be cautious to not let it consume you. As someone else answered, I think the way our society handles our elderly is disgraceful, my business has a contract with a nursing home and when I have to go in and out of that facility, frequently, it truly makes me depressed to see how we treat our elders with such disrespect, like they are 'throw away' items. Sad. Some of my money would go towards a home, where people could die with dignity and respect and know they were loved. The next aspect of a forgotten society that I'd contribute lots of money to is hungry children in America. There is no reason, NONE, that any child in the USA should go to bed hungry….ever. But more than just handing out food, I believe building relationships with young people could completely change the course of a troubled youth. I know these all sound so 'goody goody' and I suppose the desire to better yourself would sneak in….but I think having 'just enough' would be great. Just enough to not have to worry about bills, finances, to be able to live comfortably but not lavishly, to never have to be in want or need would be completely sufficient. I LOVE my profession but the worry of money does sometimes steal my joy from doing what I'm doing(I own my own flower shop and I am a floral designer). My one big splurge in all selfishness would be that motorcyle I want so badly! And I'd look for all the warm destinations in order to avoid winter weather(My least favorite)….Hey….enjoy dreaming, fellow Arina friends….we all have to have dreams! (And they are FREE!!!)

It is very interesting & great thing in life for which everyone is doing theire job, off course it is more than bread and butter. If you get such a huge money easily then lot of ideas comes to our mind to spend it. The people who allready have it ( not exactly the amount mentioned above) are again try to get more. It is quite obvious that if you suddenly got such huge amount then lot of things of expenses comes. These are for ourselves and specially the people around us to stay happy, enjoy and complete our dreams. Then we think for to do something for society.
Instead of this think as allready you have it, which gives you tremendous potential of developing new things around you and fullfills all your dreams.

I wish your dream come true one day too. I think it is a great idea to open schools and personally select teachers for the children. I have been toying with a similar idea too. I would like to open just one school in Latvia (to start with), where children would be taught important skills they don't teach in regular schools (like goal-setting, leadership, creative thinking, and so on)…

  • Arina

    Hi Ravi,
I'm glad that you have such a clear and detailed plan. I can tell that you have put a lot of thought into it. You have probably mentioned one of the majority of the global problems that we are facing right now, including shortage of natural resources, ecosystem loses, lack of access to clean water (that is why I am supporting charity Water.) and even education (I agree that in most High Schools and Universities student are taught to memorize facts and blindly follow the rules. But very little attention is dedicated to teach us how to reason, think outside the box and apply all this knowledge in regular life situations).
I have no doubts that if you win a lottery, you will use that money wisely.

  • Arina

This is a very interesting point that you have brought up, Narvin. There is never enough money. No matter how much we make, we always strive for more. This process is endless. It is also true that if you are not using money, you are losing it. Making investments helps to grow your fortune, just as your influence (as you have mentioned). My question to you is what would you do with all of this wealth and power?
Because in my experience both money and power are just tools most of us use to achieve other goals (live comfortably) and fulfill other desires (like desire to be appreciated, respected, admired, and so on).

  • Arina

Your answers always bring that warm feeling in my heart. You are right, having dreams is free and it feels good too.:) And just having enough money to do what you love without having to worry about paying bills would be wonderful. In fact, I thank God every single day for being able to make a living doing something that I love to do. I believe that it is truly a blessing. And I can see, why you love your profession as well (while most of us get flowers for special occasions like Birthdays and anniversaries, you are surrounded with beautiful bouquets every single day. Moreover, you make them for other people and bring joy into their hearts).
And thank you for bringing up one of the really serious problem – how our society treats elderly people. In eastern cultures older people are respected for their wisdom and their experience. But in our western society we perceive old age almost as a disease. It is associated with helplessness, debility and dementia. It almost seems like we are trying to ignore the fact that one day we will be there too. Recently I have been reading a two very enlightening books on this subject “Still Here: Embracing Aging, Changing and Dying” by Ram Dass and “What’s Worth Knowing” by Wendy Lustbader (I have already mentioned it in my previous posts). They helped me realize that our indifference and neglect hurts our elders a lot more pain than any physical problems.
And change starts with us. It is just as you said, it is not enough to hand out food to resolve hunger problems, we need to change people's mindset.
Thanks again for your sharing. I hope that you will get your motorcycle. :)

Hi Arina, Well to be honest , i am not waiting for any lottery. I have adopted some poor but very brilliant students for thier future education. This is bcoz if you deeply looked into nature. It always gives something in some way and take away back from another way ( carbon , nitrogen , water cycle , breathing , food ). We human being always are greedy and have attitude of collection. The law of thermo dynamics says NOTHING COMES FROM NOTHIING. :) We are combination of matter and non matter , however we always concentrate on matter and belive that is real identity which in real sense is inanimate. Well this is very big , profound subject hope some day we will talk abt this , I always enjoy to read your blogs. Keep going GOD BLESS YOU. Happy evening.

mam i am a student i will first of all make my future secure i will keep some part of it for my education so that my parents dont worry
and i will donate some of it (10000$)to old age home and cancer treating organisations
i would like to spend rest of it for making the present situation of mine so that in future there is never any devoid of money

  • John

Fist I'd find some qualified to help, then earmark 1 million to family and friends, 1 million to charity, something like the Shrinner's that helps hurt and crippled kids, 4 million would go to the very best firm I could find for investments, not these jerks that told us to save all of lives and reinvest at fractions of an % return for 40 years while they played fast an loose with our money making themselves untold fortunes in an fraction of the time with our money and then when the gravy train ran out getting our tax dollars for their big bonuses. 1 million would be for housing and new vehicles and toys….. bass boat, motorcycles etc. 2 million would be in an easy to get to account for exploring the world and unforeseen expenses, the last million would be to learn from experts the skill of internet niche marketing, just think of all the tests you could perform until the right combination was found and still have an huge chunk left over for the actual campaign. Then that will ask the question, where do I spend this money? I may be more giving this go around.

  • Dmerilien

    1. i would donate 50000 to this church tht helped me out when i was down on my luck.

3.retire my parents. give them 150k ea

4.buy myself a house in orlando, fl. maybe some time shares
5.make sure i got my captial secured and money is being made and not losted.
    6. take myself a nice 2 month vacation to bazil.
7.chill and take course to better mange my captial

  • Arina

Thank you, Dmerilien, for sharing what would you do with $10,000,000. You have some really great goals on your list. And it is even greater that many of your goals (like donating some money to your church, helping out your parents, learning to manage your finances better and starting to make investments) are realistic and achievable without millions of dollars. It is something you can work towards right now. I am saying it because I have many similar goals on my list and, even though, I am far away from winning a lottery (maybe because I never buy lottery tickets) I know that I can take small steps to improve my own education and help others out (if not with thousands of dollars than at least with what I have). :)

  • Arina

Thank you for your sharing, John. It is an interesting point of view – to make investments (as well as invest in your professional growth), so that you could make more money and, consequently, give more money away to help those in need. This was actually the main reason, why I would invest 70% of my money instead of just giving them away to different charities. I want it to be long-term help, rather than one-time donation. And it is possible only when we are able to make our money work.

  • Cindy Aaron

I would like to do something like: pay off the church budget for a year; donate to several charities; pay off our children's house notes and student loans; then pay off all out bills; then set any left aside for a rainy day.

  • dana

Great question! People don't know what to do, they only got a vague idea, which isn't their fault.
I love to see that some of you are toying with opening schools which will enhance all the capabilities we've been cut off by ages of society's limiting beliefs and messages.
What I would do with that money is first:
    1. BURN 2 MILLION DOLLARS AFTER INVITING SOME PEOPLE I'VE BEEN WORKING FOR AT THE WOLRD BANK WHEN I WAS AN INTERPRETER. THE PRESIDENT OF MY COUNTRY WOULD BE THE FIRST GUEST. EACH DOLLAR BILL WOULD BE BURNT IN THE NAME OF A CHILD'S LIFE WHICH IS LOST EVERY MINUTE.

    2. I'd buy a place in Brazil where I'd have a whole village destined to teach people to know everything about the way the human body functions, teaching them all I Chinese knowledge of Universal laws. I would have my mentors and teachers work together and start with children of the street because parents have never allowed me to teach their children how to breathe nor take care of the environment.

    3. I would teach people how to build a parallel world in love. This is related to the knowledge of our pineal gland working together with our hearts.

    4. Since by the time we got enough people living without depending on govts. nor institutions of any kind, with all their capabilities (not just using an 8% of the brain without connecting to the heart, but using as much of the 92% disregarded remaning brain too), the I'd burn the remaning money, because all this helps you manifest more and more money if you wish to, in an international meeting.
    Daniela, from Buenos Aires

I would by 10 gifts from tiffanies for 6,000,000.dollars a home with a pool and two cars and gift it to the one I love just a dream!
