Why Do We Do What We Do?

I often wonder- Why do you do what we do?
What force directs our behavior and our actions? What makes us tick? Why do we spend, save, find a hobby, procrastinate? And why do we sometimes do irrational things that are not in our best interests?
The answer is simple – it is not logic that drives our actions. It is our emotions.
Anthony Robbins – an amazing motivational speaker and self development expert, brilliantly explained this concept in the video below. He has dedicated 30 years of his life to learning what motivates people and what it is that makes the difference in the quality of their lives and, I believe, that he succeeded!
Watch this 20 minute inspirational video below and then skip down to my final question.

So here is an important question:
What is driving YOU? What makes you resourceful? What makes you creative? What makes you daring?
Why do you do what you do?
Please share your thoughts in the comments!

for me, what drives me to do what i do is the “need” factor. the need to provide for the kids, the need to satisfy personal luxuries, the need to feel that achieved my goal.

Good morning. Again, must fall back on my faith to answer this. Ignore if you don't believe in Jesus, however…Jesus wouldn't ignore you(smile)–anyway….In the world of Christianity…Or let me rephrase that…..Christianity done right….. You aren't living for yourself anymore. You are living for Jesus and others. When you focus on those two things instead of self, your entire perspective changes. It is upside down and backwards and counter-intuitive to how we are programmed to think. We do the things we do to (1) please God and (2) to love others. In that process our needs, wants and desires are fulfilled. Am I perfect at it, NO way. I still would love to put ME first…but as I take baby steps in the little things…letting someone go ahead of me in line, offering a friend a little of my precious time to 'vent' her problems, and allowing my heart to break over those going hungry are all helping me to become more like Him…less of me, more of Him…and the cool thing, He gives all those things back and so much more. I'd better close for now. Have a great day!

I must say I was left with awe after watching the 20 minute video. It was an amazing video. The stories were amazing. The learning’s were amazing and the speaker was amazing as well. Too many amazings, I know, but I just can’t emphasize enough how simply amazing this truly is.
I guess what’s driving me to do what I do know is because I want to prove something to someone. She’s an aunt who 3 years ago told me I won’t be successful in life, my boyfriend won’t marry me, I will be poor, sad and etc. Her words stuck to me for years and before I do something or start something, I always think first “will this make me poor?”, “Am I not going to be successful with this?” and etc. For years, she became the driving reason of everything I do. Clear concept of EMOTION. And for the longest time my answer to the question “why do you do what you do?” was because I wanted to prove her wrong, no more, no less.
However, my boyfriend told me otherwise. He told me, my aunt shouldn’t be the reason why I do what I do. It should be God. It is because of him that up to this day, those words never actually happened to me or will ever happen to me. He also made sure that I’m happy with what is happening to me now, 3 years after.
And yes, we are getting married soon. 

    That is great !
It would be much greater if the language wasn't so much native and addressed exclusively to the Americans.
    Thank you .
