What Helps You To Start Your Workweek On The Right Note?

working 300x216 What Helps You To Start Your Workweek On The Right Note?I don’t know about you, but the beginning of the week is sometimes hard for me. After a worry-free and entertainment-filled weekend, it can be challenging to get back in the right mood to work.

Don’t get me wrong, I really love what I do (I can’t even call it a job, because it gives me so much satisfaction and joy), but sometimes even I feel lazy, and regret that the weekend has come to an end.

What do you do to motivate yourself every week? Is there a routine you do every week that powers your motivation?

Maybe you watch an inspirational video, read a good book, or tell yourself that it is going to be a great day? Or maybe a meditation, or prayer, helps you to regain your inner balance and motivation?

I would love to learn what helps you boost your motivation at the beginning of the workweek!

I come in and the first thing I do when I turn my computer on is search my e-mails for your message. After reviewing the e-mails, I organize them and then make a listing of what has to be done. I find it a challenge to myself to see if I can get everything on my list accomplished in my 10-hour day!

Starting a great workweek for me, entails a few things. First, making sure it is covered in prayer. Also, no matter how busy of a weekend I have planned, I make sure to take some time to relax and clear my mind. And last but not least, I make sure my coffee pot is alive and well<!>

Just a thought: when I start the week and there looks like their might be 'issues' I remind myself to “not borrow tomorrow's trouble” and prepare myself to handle what is dealt me each day. It helps to keep unnecessary worry, stress and frustrations from forming.

Thank you for your sharing! I love your thought on “not borrowing tomorrow's trouble”! It is true! far too often we mull over all the “what if's” and “what if not's”. Just trusting the Universe/God/Higher powers and letting go of those unnecessary worries goes a long way towards achieving inner piece and living much more satisfying life.

    Hi Cindy,

I know exactly what you are talking about. I used to check my email first thing in the morning too. But then I realized that one negative email is enough to dampen my mood and keep me concentrated on the problems that need to be solved. Reviewing my emails had definitely helped me to get in a 'work' mood, but at the same time it would rob me of my quite morning time.
However, if it works for you, it might work for other people as well. So thank you for sharing your productivity booster.

It is interesting that things that drive us crazy, are the ones that help us to get motivated. I believe that it has a lot to do with our desire to procrastinate till the last moment and then get everything done in the record time. At least it is true for me.
What do you think, Krish? :)

Just when I thought that my biggest hurdle is to start my workweek on the right note, I find out that it is just one door that opens up to 5 more.

I try to close the Sunday by reading few pages from any book/article talking about “Positive Thinking”. This usually serves like the magic wand that makes my eyes blink in the morning, my body lifts off the bed, my legs march and I head to work.

Behind the driving wheel, I make myself comfortable, I look at the road, the sky and wonder what Mother Nature is saving for me that when it hits me  “It’s just Monday”. Monday, one of 5 work-week days, each of which requires adequate strength and resilience to push open. I panic then I look frantically for my tools….
    1. A small hot cup of French vanilla cappuccino
    2. Something on the radio that can draw a smile on my face, a light joke, or a nice comment, or an inspiring story about good people out there
    3. An upbeat song with good lyrics
    4. A slight prayer or whisper to god to help me go through the day and be productive
    5. A short colorful to-do list that I draft and stick in-front of me
    6. and if I am lucky a short encounter or conversation with someone nice in the elevator going to my desk

My anxieties dissolve, my energy gets boosted, my smile grows wider and my eyes sparkle. That’s all I need to start a good working day.

If any of my tools above goes missing or the combination doesn’t work enough to boost my energy, I look for your blog to motivate me. I see your blog as an insightful and fun media to meet wonderful people.

    Hi Arina

I personally believe that success comes only when if a person is self motivated to achieve his goal ,
person should work with passion to over come all such hurdles which comes on the way , Most of the people
do plan their working but fail just because they don't do proper execution , and they give up giving reason that
the market is tough which i personally feel is not correct ,

I don't even let the negtive e-mails get me down. I just figure that they are having a bad day. Just remember to look for the silver lining in everything. When I ever have day like that, I just think of the poem of the FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND.

Whether it is first thing in the week or just the first thing in the morning, I always start off my morning thinking about things for which I am grateful. I make a mental list each morning based on whatever pops into my mind at that moment. I can spend 5-10 minutes easily thinking about all that I have in my life!

I find that this is a great way to start the day!

    Be Well.

Thank you, Moly, for your kind words. Your 'motivation tools' are great and I'm sure that they work like magic too. In fact, I'm going to get me a small French Vanilla decaf cappuccino on my way to the grocery store! Mmmm…. :)

  • Arina

What you said, Hardeep, is very true. When you are not intrinsically motivated, every excuse will be enough to give up. But even intrinsic motivation sometimes needs a little extrinsic push (like a reward after accomplishing an important task or an inspirational quote that lifts up your spirits and makes you look forward the day ahead of you).

  • Shop4u2day

I open up Arina's quotes and think on them. (Arina, you pick THE best quotes). They always make me THINK. They shift my entire mindset in the right direction.. Then I read some of the Bible and pray. Thx to other commentors, I have new ideas to consider that will get my perspective going in the right direction.

In my case, on waking up and spoending some time to gain my balance, I then have some time of prayer and bible reading. This prepares my heart and fixes me for the day. As I step out of my room and move on its all great till I get to work and start with the daily routines'

I start my work week off with Church, prayer and devotion to him…my savior. If I don't put my priorities in order or in line, my week or my days don't go well at all. It's just to prove, I am not who I'm supposed to be without him.
