The story of William Kamkwamba does not start as most success stories do:

William dropped out of school, when he was 14 because his parents were unable to pay the tuition fees (about $80 a year). To continue his education he went to a local library, where he found a book called Using Energy. This is how he got the idea to use wind – the only resource available in abundance in Malawa –to generate electricity for his family. His neighbors openly made fun of him. 14-year old William ignored them and kept on working…

What William Kamkwamba’s story has in common with other success stories is an unstoppable determination and the burning desire to make things happen.
